One Direction to release 3D film

One Direction have revealed that they will release their first ever film.

The band are currently in the US to promote their new album 'Take Me Home' and they performed for the Today Show in front of a packed crowd in New York.

The US TV show hinted before One Direction's live show that the quintet had a special announcement to make.

The group later announced that they will be releasing a 3D film next year, with the flick said to be coming out on August 30 2013.

The Today Show's Twitter account meanwhile revealed that One Direction performed in front of the TV show's biggest crowd yet.

The lads performed new singles 'Little Things' and 'Live While We're Young', as well as their hit 'What Makes You Beautiful'.
