One Direction recall first impressions of each other

Chart-topping heartthrobs One Direction have revealed their first impressions of each other after finding out they were to be a group on The X Factor.

The five piece - comprising Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Liam Payne - entered the 2010 competition as solo acts but were soon put together by the judging panel headed up by music mogul Simon Cowell.

The band have revealed what they first thought of each other ahead of entering into one of the most successful British acts ever.

Payne told MTV News: "Louis was so quiet when I first met him, now you can't shut him up.

Styles added: "Niall was really loud. He just walked around with a guitar," before Horan interjected: "Really because I had no friends and was trying to get myself friends but wasn't doing a very good job of it."

Despite a string of No. 1 hits under their belt, as well as two critically acclaimed albums, One Direction are still baffled by their success in the charts.

Tomlinson explained: "I don't think you could ever envision anything like this. We just feel so lucky to be involved in it. When you actually sit down and think about where we've come in two years, maybe nearly three years...it's absolutely amazing.

He continued: "It sounds really obvious and everyone always says it, but we do have the best fans in the world."
