One Direction smash U.S. chart record

Heartthrobs One Direction have set a brand new U.S. record by landing a No.1 on the Billboard charts with both their debut and sophomore records.

An official press release explains that the lads have entered the Billboard 200 albums chart at the top spot with 'Up All Night' and now, again, with 'Take Me Home', which makes them the first British band to achieve this impressive feat:

"One Direction's second album TAKE ME HOME soars to the No.1 position on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart with over 540,000 copies sold this week, making them the first British band to have their debut and second albums debut at No.1 in the US. This is the second time this year One Direction made history as their debut album, UP ALL NIGHT, entered the Billboard Top 200 Album chart at No.1, the first for a British band."

They have also scored No.1 positions in over 32 countries including the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Holland, Ireland, Israel, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Singapore with 'Take Me Home'.

'Take Me Home' is currently at No.3 on the UK albums chart and has slipped 2 places in today's (November 21) midweek update.
