One Direction heartthrob Louis Tomlinson has revealed his modest birthday wishlist - claiming all he wants on his special day is "love".

Tomlinson is set to celebrate his milestone 21st birthday on December 24.

When asked what he's hoping to receive on his special day the chart-topping star shunned big extravagant purchases, and instead asked that his nearest and dearest show him lots of affection.

He told OK! magazine: “I don’t know what I want, I haven’t even thought about it. I’ll have to get back to you! I think just love and friends – that’s all I’ll ever need.”

One Direction - also comprising Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Niall Horan – have been awarded a string of industry accolades of late, and recently walked away with three gongs at the MTV Video Music Awards.

While at the awards ceremony, Horan and Styles received a kiss from Katy Perry, who was spotted singing the wrong words to one of their songs during the evening.

Horan says the stunning singer's mistake went unnoticed, joking:  “I don’t really mind, it was still good! Me and Harry got a kiss off Katy so I really do not mind!”
