British heartthrobs One Direction have been warned to "pace themselves" when it comes to partying and girls.

The boyband - comprising Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne - have been offered some words of advice from Backstreet Boys star Howie Dorough.

The veteran band member thinks One Direction should be sensible while enjoying their status as international superstars so they don't burn out along the way.

He told In Touch magazine: ''Pace yourself. Have fun but put your health first. Definitely enjoy the perks that come with being a pop star, but make sure you prioritise your party nights and work.

He added: "Without the hard work, there are no girls and without the girls there is no party. Make sure you record music that you will be proud of 20 years from now.''

It was recently revealed that the band will unveil a female fragrance next year - adding another title to their list of talents.
