One Direction about to experience a "dream coming to life"

The heartthrobs in One Direction are busy gearing up for tonight's (December 3) headlining performance at New York City's iconic venue, Madison Square Garden, and the band have described it as the ultimate achievement.

Member Niall Horan took to his official Twitter page earlier today and told his 8 million followers that he was too excited to sleep ahead of the big concert: "Lying in my bed , cannot sleep ! Madison square garden is like 15 hours away! A performers dream coming to life #1DinMSG."

Harry Styles, who was photographed enjoying a day off in Manhattan with Taylor Swift recently, also tweeted about his anticipation for the gig and wrote:

"Thinking about what we were doing three years ago... Today we play Madison Square Garden. We can never say thank you enough. We love you .xx"

Meanwhile, Liam Payne told his fans that he enjoyed visiting the Empire State Building, but was disgusted with the behaviour of security in the building who ruined the experience for his family:

"Just been to the Empire State Building had a great time except... The security detail in particular the senior security supervisor was arrogant, unproffesional and extreamly disrespectful to my family @EmpireStateBldg #TheresAlwaysTimeForManors"
