One Direction are most demanded act in X Factor history

One Direction have become the most in-demand act to have come from The X Factor across its nine-year history.

Viagogo has revealed a chart of concert sales from acts that have come from the reality TV show, highlighting that even though the band came third, they have proved the most popular. Their ticket sales have been so high that they outsell the four other acts in the top five put together.

Two of the other acts on the bill, JLS at second and Olly Murs at third, did not win the show either. Alexandra Burke and Leona Lewis came respectfully fourth and fifth on the list.

Viagogo's Edward Parkinson said: “Although One Direction came third in the contest in 2010, they were the most in-demand act of 2012".

Parkinson went on to say: "Finalists James Arthur, Jahmene Douglas and Christopher Maloney can take heart in the fact that, when it comes to the X Factor final, winning isn’t everything - three of the top five most successful X Factor artists ever were runners-up in the competition.”

One Direction will be performing live on The X Factor final tonight (December 9).
