One Direction named MTV's Artist of the Year

One Direction have added another accolade to their collection - MTV's Artist of the Year.

The group have enjoyed a hugely successful 2012, breaking America with aplomb and travelling the world in style.

They then released their second album 'Take Me Home' in November, which has sold in the bucketloads.

One Direction have now been named MTV's Artist of the Year, with Taylor Swift coming in second place.

'We Are Young' rockers fun. meanwhile are third on the list, followed by Rihanna and 2 Chainz.

As previously reported, One Direction recently dismissed speculation that they could look to start solo careers, with Niall Horan saying: "I wouldn't do it. We're together now, and that's it."

Louis Tomlinson meanwhile added: "We're just having an absolutely great time. It'd be wrong to look at it and be like, 'When is this gonna end?'."
