One Direction were on the receiving end of a prank by UK TV stars Ant and Dec.

The Newcastle duo are well known for their cheeky sketches and it seems the 'Kiss You' stars are the latest celebrity act to fall foul of one of their jokes.

Filming for their Saturday Night Takeaway program late last year, Ant pretended to be a New Zealand TV reporter and Dec went under disguise as a massive One Direction fan.

However, everything went a bit awry after Dec faked an asthma attack, worrying the boyband in the process. Ant said:

"The ruse was that 1D's biggest fans had flown in to meet them. Dec dressed up as one called Jack from New Zealand and I was Ben, a TV host from there. I introduced him to the group – and the meeting didn't go as planned. But they fell for it."

Dec added: "I faked an asthma attack. They panicked and I hyperventilated. They called medical emergencies. It was such fun and they fell for it. We did it in Madison Square Garden before Christmas."

The prank is due to be shown on their Saturday Night Takeaway show this weekend (March 23).
