One Direction win best live act Silver Clef award

One Direction have been honoured with a Silver Clef award.

The British pop group have been named best live act by the awards ceremony, beating off competition from The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and Coldplay.

The Nordoff Robbins sponsored gong was decided via a public vote, with One Direction picking up roughly a quarter of the 26,000 votes cast.

Speaking about the accolade, Harry Styles said:

"We are over the moon. Congratulations to Nordoff Robbins on another amazing Silver Clef Awards. What an incredible charity, helping people with music therapy."

This year's Silver Clef Awards are taking place today (June 28) at midday, with the likes of The Clash, Labrinth and Vampire Weekend all scheduled to collect prizes.

One Direction meanwhile are currently in the States as they take their massive Take Me Home tour to North America.
