Zayn Malik designed Gromit model ready to go on display

A model of popular animation character Gromit designed by Zayn Malik is set to go on display in Bristol.

As previously reported, the One Direction singer was one of 80 artists who signed up to create models of the Wallace and Gromit dog for a special exhibition.

The 5ft decorated sculptures are being put on a Gromit "trail" around Bristol this weekend before going on public display from Monday (July 1).

They will be exhibited until September 8, with the models later going to auction to raise money for charity.

Malik's Gromit model is reportedly superhero themed and it sees the loveable dog with bright green eyes.

Other artists who have contributed models to the cause include Sir Quentin Blake, Cath Kidston, The Beano and comedian Harry Hill.

Speaking about the exhibition, Wallace and Gromit creator Nick Park told the BBC:

"To see him this massive is incredible. I always thought Gromit would make it big, but not like this. I was quite worried, because I'm quite fussy about Gromit, and I didn't know if he would make a very good blank canvas for the artists to work on. But I think I am more just honoured that he is being used. I am kind of relived that people have taken liberties with him, and Gromit is still somehow there, no matter what people have done - and [there are] all sorts of wacky designs - Gromit is still there underneath."
