One Direction on their success so far: 'We didn't want to just follow the boy-band formula'

'Little Things' superstars One Direction have revealed that they approached their collective career in a different way to the typical 'boyband formula' and have been enjoying their success ever since.

Speaking to Glamour magazine in America, member Zayn Malik confessed that it was important for them not to be another cookie-cutter pop act: "We didn't want to just follow the boy-band formula. We didn't want to do any dancing, we just wanted to be five dudes in a band."

Member Liam Payne then addressed their lack of choreographed dance routines and explained that they're not the best movers so have managed to get around it using their vocal abilities and personalities:

"We just kind of came out and said, 'We can't dance, we're a bit lazy, we're just normal lads. We look stupid dancing', that's what I think."
