One Direction's Louis talks about bullying: 'Social media makes it easier for people to be awful'

Heartthrob Louis Tomlinson, from boyband One Direction, has spoken out about the importance of standing up to bullies in a new video.

The clip, which is for the lads' partnership with America's Office Depot on the 'Together Against Bullying' campaign, sees the 'Little Things' singer discussing how social media makes it easier for people to be targeted and verbally abused:

"In a way, bullying might be easier with the likes of social networking [...] There could be one individual you see on Twitter who is just being really awful to a group of people. I think these people just go on power trips and want to have some level of importance."

Speaking about how users of social networking sites can use them to prevent bullying instead of encouraging it or turning a blind eye, Tomlinson added: "You can use it in a positive manner to try and confront those bullies. Because it's so public, often people see that one person is being awful to a group of people and then others can have their say."
