One Direction look odds-on to win MTV's Hottest poll.

The music media company are currently asking fans to tweet who they think is the hottest music act this summer.

They are looking for their king or queen of the sunshine season and it looks as if One Direction will nab the title.

At the time of writing, they are sitting on a massive 11.94m votes.

Languishing behind at No.2 is Justin Bieber with roughly 9.24m tweets, whilst Lady Gaga has enjoyed a recent resurgence and is sitting at No.3 with 2.83m votes.

Other names in the mix include Demi Lovato, The Wanted and Katy Perry.

Voting for the poll will close on August 18 and the results will be announced on August 31.
