One Direction's 'Best Song Ever' set to hit US top five

One Direction's latest single is on course to enter the Billboard Hot 100 top five.

The boyband recently released the track 'Best Song Ever' as their newest cut and it seems to be performing well in the charts.

Billboard reports that the single should hit the top five when the full US chart is unveiled on Wednesday (July 31).

It is estimated that 'Best Song Ever' will shift some 300,000 downloads in the week ending Sunday (July 28) - a decrease on the performance of their best performing US single 'Live While We're Young', however, which sold 341,000 units in its first week.

In terms of video streaming, however, 'Best Song Ever' has excelled. Their clever promo clip smashed VEVO's 24-hour streaming record recently after it was uploaded online on Monday (July 22), racking up 12.3m views in just one day.
