One Direction fans criticise Channel 4 documentary about band's devotees

A documentary about One Direction fans has been slammed by the group's followers for misrepresenting the majority of their fanbase.

Crazy About One Direction aired last night (August 15) on Channel 4 in the UK and it examined the band's fervent fans.

Subjects touched on in the programme included death threats, intense jealousy and gay fan fiction.

However, a host of One Direction fans took to Twitter to express their dismay at the documentary, believing that it showed them in a negative light and missed out their positive aspects.

One fan said: "This documentary has embarrassed all the fans that actually respect the boys and don't send death threats to their loved ones."

Another Twitter user meanwhile said: "Channel 4, thank you, thank you for ruining everything, cheers to you for being the biggest joke of the year."
