One Direction help to raise £2m for Red Nose Day

One Direction have helped raise a staggering £2 million for Red Nose Day.

The boyband enjoyed a successful team-up with the Comic Relief charity earlier this year, releasing the hit track 'One Way or Another' as the campaign's official single.

The lads also travelled to Ghana to report back to the UK about the troubles facing children in the country.

It has been confirmed that One Direction's single has raised £850,000 so far, whilst their Ghana trip managed to generate £1m of donations.

Speaking about the milestone, the Red Nose Day Twitter account said: "A HUGE thanks to @onedirection and all you Directioners who've now helped raise a MASSIVE £2million for #RND! You guys rock."

Niall Horan meanwhile commented: "We just want to say thank you to our fans for their generosity. They never cease to amaze us. We're so very proud of our involvement and knowing that this money will make a real difference is the best part of what we do. Please continue to support Comic Relief and do what you can for this incredibly important cause. Love Niall. X."
