One Direction star Liam Payne has admitted to leaving a shop in Australia because he was "scared" by the amount of fans around him.

The British boyband are currently on the Australia and New Zealand leg of their Take Me Home tour and they are naturally receiving a fanatical response.

However, it seems things got a little bit too much for Payne recently, who tweeted that he had to leave a shop because he was intimidated by a mob of devotees. He said:

"Well that was the quickest shopping trip ever think I've come to realise public shopping places are a bad choice #OnlineShoppingForLife."

The singer added: "Sorry to anyone I couldn't get a picture with, in the end there was just too many people and I got a bit scared lol sorry. It's a lovely day today gotta say I do love Australia just wish I could go and see some more of it."

Next up meanwhile for One Direction in Australia is a date at the Perth Indoor Arena on Saturday (September 28).
