One Direction have revealed plans to unveil "big" news later this week.

A mysterious tweet from the band's official Twitter account posted today (September 30) confirmed that an announcement will be made on Wednesday (October 2).

The tweet read:

"Happy Monday! And it IS a happy Monday.. We have some NEWS for you on Wednesday... Some BIG news...1DHQ x."

Fans have been speculating what the news could be, with possible new single details or tour dates popular assumptions.

One Direction meanwhile are due to release their third album 'Midnight Memories' on November 25.

The lads are currently in Australia as they bring their Take Me Home tour to the country before heading to New Zealand.
