One Direction have biggest-selling album of past 15 years with 'Midnight Memories'

UK based boyband One Direction are yet to release their forthcoming new album, entitled 'Midnight Memories', but the record has already become the fastest-selling full-length offering of the past 15 years on Amazon UK.

The statistics were released earlier today (October 14) and show that the lads have made an impressive dent in the figures with their third album, which is due to be officially released on November 25 in the UK

Elsewhere in the report, songstress Adele has been named Amazon's biggest-selling artist (all formats) of the past 15 years, with Coldplay finishing in second place and The Beatles coming in third. Lady Gaga charted at No.4, Rihanna at 5, and Canadian crooner Michael Bublé placed sixth.

Mark Firth, head of music at the company, explained in a statement: "Adele's achievement in securing both the best-selling artist title and the top two best-selling albums of the past 15 years on Amazon.co.uk is remarkable."

Adele also had the No.1 and No.2 best-selling albums of the past 15 years (all formats) with '21' and '19' respectively. Take That's 'Progress' came in at No.3, Susan Boyle's 'I Dreamed A Dream' is at 4, and Amy Winehouse's 'Back To Black' is at No.7
