One Direction's Niall Horan plans to retire by 70 due to knees

One Direction star Niall Horan has admitted that his "dodgy knees" will probably force him to stop performing later in life.

The singer has a long-term knee problem that regularly flares up and causes pain and discomfort for the Irishman.

Horan has conceded that as a result, he won't be able to replicate the likes of 70-year-old Rolling Stones mainman Mick Jagger, who continues to tour the world.

The One Direction man said: "Jagger does it but I don't think at the moment I'd be able to. I've got dodgy knees."

Fans of the group need not worry just yet, with another 50 years to go until Horan hits the 70-year-old milestone.

One Direction meanwhile are currently still on the Australia and New Zealand leg of their Take Me Home tour, with their next date due to take place in Brisbane on October 19.

The former X Factor contestants are also due to release their third album 'Midnight Memories' on November 25.
