Driving instructor admits he didn't know Niall Horan was famous

The driving instructor who successfully saw Niall Horan onto the road has admitted that he had no idea the Irishman was famous.

As previously reported, the 19-year-old singer passed his driving test earlier this year after being taught by intensive instructor Noel Gaughan.

Speaking to the Telegraph, the teacher said that he only realised the blonde haired boy sitting next to him was famous after fans started surrounding their vehicle. He said:

"I was teaching Niall from One Direction and I just thought he was an ordinary lad. But wherever we pulled over there were girls taking pictures and surrounding the car. That made it difficult."

Gaughan has taught a string of celebrities and he recently passed Adele, who he did not know and still failed to recognise despite the star singing some of her tracks in the car.

The 46-year-old instructor meanwhile added that more One Direction lads could set foot in his car soon. Speaking about other celebrity successes, he said:

"Mika was hilarious and he eats like a horse for someone so small. He always had a sandwich. James McAvoy was a really sweet guy and it was great seeing him on Top Gear. Rhys Ifans is the funniest pupil I've had.

"When we got to the test centre he walked up to the examiner and said 'shall I drop my pants now' I didn't set out to get this niche, I think it's just word of mouth. I've already got a few more celebrities booked in. A couple more of the other One Direction boys are looking to pass their tests still so they have given me a call."
