One Direction to perform at the American Music Awards

British boyband One Direction have been confirmed to perform at this year's American Music Awards. 

The news was confirmed by E! earlier today (October 24) and a spokesperson for the company posted an article in which they explained that the lads will be taking the stage for a live mini set:

"I can exclusively tell you that 1D has signed on to perform at the upcoming American Music Awards. The performance will mark Harry Styles, Niall Horan,Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson's debut on the AMAs."

The 'Little Things' heartthrobs are up for Favourite Band/Duo/Group (pop/rock) and Best Album (pop/rock) for 'Take Me Home'. The 2013 AMAs will be held on November 24 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. 

On October 18, member Liam Payne revealed his excitement at being nominated for two prizes and tweeted: "We are up for twoooooo #AMAs this year!! Can't believe itt!!"

Yesterday, Louis Tomlinson echoed the sentiment and added: "Massive thanks to everyone who has voted for @onedirection for Favourite Album - Pop/Rock at the #AMAs. We are so proud of 'Take Me Home'."
