Louis Tomlinson rep denies singer endorses weight loss products after tweet

A rep for Louis Tomlinson has calmed things down after the singer promoted a weight loss company on Twitter.

The singer recently tweeted in praise about a Bootea smoothie he consumed, but he deleted the message after learning that the British company make weight loss products such as diet pills and 'fat-burning' tea.

Due to his band's impressionable audience, Tomlinson was criticised for the tweet. However, a rep said that the UK star doesn't support weight loss items. They said:

"Louis tweeted about the drink as he had one and enjoyed it. However, he did not realise they are associated with weight loss and would never endorse weight loss products."

Youth mental health charity YoungMinds commented that Tomlinson didn't take into account his audience, which is mainly young girls, when tweeting. Charity head Lucy Russell told the Mirror:

"It's really irresponsible and short-sighted of him. Louis has such a huge audience - especially young girls. It's very silly and remiss of him and the people around him. Three children in every classroom have a diagnosable mental health problem. Louis is a mentor to millions. The ones who are vulnerable are easily led and will be thinking: 'I'll buy some of that'."

One Direction meanwhile are due to release their third album 'Midnight Memories' on November 25.
