One Direction star Liam Payne has admitted that he initially didn't really like bandmate Louis Tomlinson.

And it seems he got so frustrated by the singer that he at times wanted to "whack" him.

The boyband was pieced together from five solo contestants on the 2010 UK X Factor, and whilst they all now get on fine, it seems it was a different story back at the time of their conception.

Speaking in a deleted scene from the group's film This Is Us, Payne said that Tomlinson's bubbly nature grated against his more serious mindset.

He said: "We were two completely different characters. He was loud and bubbly. I think there was one point where I literally wanted to whack him."

One Direction meanwhile have just seen their new album 'Midnight Memories' reach No.1 in the US - their third record in a row to do so.
