One Direction's 'Midnight Memories' is this week's UK No.1 album

Superstars One Direction have secured this week's No.1 position on the official UK albums chart with their latest offering, 'Midnight Memories'.

The record, which has already become the UK's fastest selling album of 2013, fought off tough competition from the likes of Leona Lewis with her festive album, 'Christmas, With Love' (No.25), Britain's Got Talent finalists Richard and Adam (shown below) with 'The Christmas Album' at No.24, and Britney Spears at No.34 with 'Britney Jean'.

Over the past seven days, a further 124,000 copies have been sold of 'Midnight Memories'. It shifted an amazing 237,000 copies during its first week and One Direction performed on America's iconic 'Saturday Night Live' last night (December 7).

Elsewhere on the UK albums chart, Rebecca Ferguson has shot in at No.6 with her second album, 'Freedom', Muse's 'Live At Rome Olympic Stadium' has entered at No.36, and Celine Dion's 'Loved Me Back To Life' is at No.8.
