One Direction have teamed up with ITV's Christmas charity campaign Text Santa.

The lads have lent their support to the cause by initiating an fan-fundraising drive that will support six different charities.

They are asking their fans to donate at least £2 to the cause via their fundraising web page.

The group said: "Just £2 could make a big difference to families in need at Christmas, help us help them. Don’t forget to leave us a Christmas message with your donation. Every £2 will add up and we’ll get to that target in no time."

Once the donations reach £50,000, a thank you video featuring the 'Kiss You' lads will be shown. To donate to the project, click here.

One Direction meanwhile are currently riding the success of their third album 'Midnight Memories'. It was released on November 25 and has topped charts across the world.
