Steve Carell on working with One Direction: 'They're incredibly sweet and really talented'

Steve Carell has opened up on his time working with One Direction on Saturday Night Live.

The British-Irish boyband appeared on the cult US TV show at the weekend (December 7) to perform live and take part in some skits.

One of their scenes was a duet with the cast of Anchorman on the track 'Afternoon Delight', with Steve Carell joining the likes of Will Ferrell for the collaboration.

Speaking to reporters recently, 40-Year-Old Virgin star Carell said that One Direction were a pleasure to work with and are very grounded despite their fame.

He said: "They are actually incredibly sweet guys and really talented. I was impressed by them. And actually, before I left SNL, that's the last thing I said. I told them all that to see young men who are so popular and successful yet so grounded and cool and nice...it's really great to see."

One Direction meanwhile appeared on Saturday Night Live in support of their new record 'Midnight Memories'.

As previously reported, it is on course to enjoy a third straight week at the top of the UK albums chart.
