Paloma Faith reveals video for new single 'Black & Blue'

Paloma Faith has revealed the video to her forthcoming single 'Black & Blue'.

The clip sees the singer portray some of the roles mentioned in the song, including a single mother and a religious woman, complete with sari. The track will be released on March 11, and is the fourth single to be taken from Faith's second LP 'Fall To Grace'.

'Fall To Grace' was awarded double platinum status in the UK last week, after selling over 600,000 copies. Faith tweeted about the accomplishment: "Fall to grace just went double platinum! Thank you everyone. So amazing x"

The accolade comes off the back of two BRIT Award nominations for the star, although she eventually lost out to Emeli Sandé in both the 'Best Female' and 'Best British Album' categories.

Faith also recently remarked that comparisons between One Direction and The Beatles are "strange", saying: 'Well, I think if you're comparing someone to the Beatles then... yeah.

"The main thing about The Beatles was that they were brilliant songwriters, that's why they were so successful, so it's a strange comparison to make.''

Paloma Faith: "Comparing One Direction to The Beatles is strange"

Paloma Faith thinks it's "strange" people compare One Direction to The Beatles as the latter were such "brilliant" songwriters.

The 'Picking Up the Pieces' hitmaker has slammed the comparisons made between the two bands, claiming that the British five piece - comprising Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne - are not as talented as legendary rock group The Beatles.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Faith explained: ''Well I think if you're comparing someone to the Beatles then ... yeah. The main thing about The Beatles was that they were brilliant songwriters, that's why they were so successful, so it's a strange comparison to make.''

Faith's comments are in line with friend and fellow musician Jake Bugg - who criticised the band's lack of songwriting ability which resulted in band member Tomlinson directly tweeting the star.

"Hi @JakeBugg do you think slagging off boy bands makes you more indie? (sic)."

Bugg later retorted in an interview: "They're here to look good and I'm here to write songs. Instead of tweeting people who don't like your music, why don't you go and write a tune?"

'Picking Up The Pieces' songstress Paloma Faith has revealed that she's keen to get into the studio with chart-topping singer-songwriter Jake Bugg after they became friends recently.

She explained that they met while appearing on Jools Holland's TV show and forged a friendship, which would be made even better if they could collaborate on a track together:

"I really want to do a duet with Jake Bugg but I'm just trying to get hold of him. He's quite busy as well, so we're trying to sort it out. Hopefully it will happen. I first met him on Jools Holland and then we became friends, I see him quite a lot."

Faith and Bugg also have grievances with boyband One Direction in common. The quirky songstress recently complained at how much the lads are charging for their concert tickets while Bugg got into an online scuffle with Louis Tomlinson after criticising the boyband's integrity.

Paloma Faith: 'Fans can be weird'

Quirky songstress Paloma Faith says it feels "dangerous" now that more people recognise her.

The 'Picking Up the Pieces' hitmaker was left shaken recently when a fan made his way past security to meet her backstage.

Faith revealed she handed an access-all-areas backstage pass to an old songwriting friend, who in turn gave it to the man in question.

Speaking to the London Evening Standard magazine, she explained: "I said [to the fan], 'It's lovely to meet you but I'm going to have to ask you to leave.' I was really shaken up. Recently, I can feel that people know who I am and it feels a bit... dangerous.

She added: "I called that guy [the colleague] up and had such a go at him. I think he just thought I was the old happy-go-lucky girl he'd always known, and I still am, but back then there was nobody who might have been weird with me."

Paloma Faith ready for romance

British songstress Paloma Faith thinks "no one fancies [her]" as she never gets "chatted up".

In an interview with the Daily Mirror, the quirky star revealed she is on the hunt for a boyfriend.

Faith admitted that she's finding her quest for romance difficult though, as she never gets much attention from the opposite sex.

"I'm single for the first time since the age of about 14. No one ever chats me up; I think they all think I'm taken. Either that or no one fancies me. I don't get hit on by anyone, ever. That's the truth. No one ever approaches me, famous or otherwise.

She added: "I'm not seeing anyone but am open to offers... I'm on the lookout. I like someone with a really good and dark sense of humour, who doesn't take themselves too seriously and preferably non-European."

27-year-old Faith is famed for her eclectic fashion sense and flamboyant stage shows, and has revealed her mother disapproves of her showy persona as she thinks its hindered her love life.

She continued: "My mum's always on at me to have children and blames 'that stupid stage thing you do' for me not already having a family. In five years' time, I'd like to have a small brood of babies."

Paloma Faith slams One Direction and Madonna ticket prices

Paloma Faith has given her opinions on the likes of One Direction and Madonna ticket sale prices.

In an interview with the Mirror, the talented beauty spoke out against high ticket prices and unoriginal live shows.

Faith used Madonna to exemplify why expensive gigs are akin to "elitism", suggesting that pop acts aren't giving value for money.

Whilst One Direction often perform with a group of session players - including drummer Josh Devine - the 'Fall To Grace' singer believes the 'Kiss You' stars and similar acts are "robotic" on stage. She said:

"Because I'm a socialist, I think it's disgusting when Madonna and co set ticket prices at £300. I don't believe in elitism."

Faith continued: "I think a lot of artists now don't have a proper band behind them. That allows you to be more spontaneous, and mix things up. A lot of the time when you go to the shows of acts like One Direction, it just sounds like the album, a pre-recorded gig. There's no banter between songs, it's all robotic. It's sad."

Quirky songstress Paloma Faith performed at last night's (February 10) BAFTA Awards ceremony in London and admitted that it was an anxiety inducing experience.

She opened the famous event with a stunning rendition of her hit 'Never Tear us Apart' at London's Royal Opera House and at the after party she explained to presenter Rick Edwards that it was a stressful time for her because she was so nervous:

"I cast my eyes down and saw who was there and just died a little bit inside. Then my hands started shaking involuntarily and I was like ... now's not a good time, I told myself off and carried on."

She revealed that a well-known Hollywood actor praised her performance: "Samuel L. Jackson just came up to me afterwards and said, 'You did an amazing job!'"

Faith added that she wasn't drinking at the BAFTAs because she's currently on tour: "I'm actually on a middle of a tour so I've got to play Sheffield tomorrow and I want them to get the price of a ticket ... not Hungover Paloma."

'Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful' singer Paloma Faith has recalled a cute incident that saw One Direction's Niall Horan suggest marriage after meeting her.

She explained to the Daily Star that the Irish heartthrob told his friend that he would marry her one day after they bumped into each other at a social gathering:

"I’ve been proposed to by One Direction. Well that’s the rumour somebody started. I met Niall from 1D at a party. He was lovely, but when I walked away he turned to a friend of mine and said: ‘I’m going to marry that girl’."

“Now everybody thinks he’s actually proposed," she added.

Faith (27) also revealed that she doesn't seem to get a lot of attention from men and wonders if they're intimidated by her bold style: "I don’t get approached by men that much. I think men are intimidated or get the wrong impression of me."

“Maybe they don’t flirt with me because of my perceived image. But when people get to know me, they see I’m not a monster. In fact, I seem to get more interest in America – so I’m taking myself there after the tour.”

Quirky songstress Paloma Faith has opened up about the 2013 BRIT Awards and revealed that she's happy to see the late Amy Winehouse in the nominees list.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, the 'Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful?' star explained that Winehouse's nomination for Best Female is fantastic because she gave so much to British music and is still so important:

"It’s wonderful to acknowledge what she contributed to British music. But I’d be interested to know what she thought of the album (Lioness: Hidden Treasures) because it was unreleased music. I know from personal experience that the reason I don’t release certain songs is because I don’t think it’s the best stuff I’ve done.

"I do think it’s really important that she’s in that category, though."

When asked about her own nominations, which are for Best Female and Best Album, Faith was modest although she explained that winning Best Album would be a dream come true:

"Best Album — although I’m not expecting to win any. I’m a realist."

Paloma Faith has admitted her quest to make it big in the US could be a hard slog.

A number of British based acts have enjoyed success in North America recently, with One Direction and Adele two examples of transatlantic joy.

Speaking to The Sun, Faith revealed that she is being mentored by Epic executive and former X Factor USA judge LA Reid when it comes to everything Stateside. She said:

"He's really, really lovely and supportive. He really believes in me and I don't really know why. But he's really encouraging and believes in what I'm about. He's my American dad now."

Talking about the idea of breaking in America, Faith added: "It feels exciting and daunting. I'm up for trying anything once but we'll see what happens. The response has been really great but I'm no stranger to hard work. Nothing in my career has come instantly."

As previously reported, Faith recently announced a series of gigs due to take place in English forests in the summer.

Paloma Faith to record new album in US

Paloma Faith has revealed plans to make a new album in America.

The British singer only released last record 'Fall To Grace' in May 2012 but it seems she is already looking ahead to her next effort.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Faith said that she plans on decamping to New York for a while to pen a new album. She said:

"I'm going to spend more time out there and write a new album."

The talented singer said: "I'm going to New York for a bit - it suits me more than Los Angeles. The British people think I'm more eccentric than the Americans do. The US think I'm funny but not way out. They like people pulling out the stops. Hollywood glamour comes from there."

As previously reported, Faith recently announced a forest tour of England in the summer.

Paloma Faith on posing nude: 'They paint you bigger than you are and it plays with your head'

Colourful songstress Paloma Faith has revealed that her past jobs, which included being a magician's assistant and a nude model, left her with a strange view of the world.

During an interview with Access Hollywood Live, Faith explained that posing for painters was particularly stressful on her perceptions of her own body because they liked to "indulge in the beauty of the flesh":

"It was very tasteful but they always paint you a lot bigger than you actually are because artists like to indulge in the beauty of the flesh... and you come out being like, 'Ooh, I didn't think I was that big'."

She added that while she was working a magician's assistant she spent numerous hours trapped in a box with a rabbit: "I've been levitated, cut up, disappeared, appeared... I spent six hours once in a box with a rabbit. I was like, 'So, have you been doing this long?'"
