Paloma Faith: 'I struggled to cope at university'

Songstress Paloma Faith has revealed that going away to university was exciting, but she really struggled to cope with being away from her loving and supportive family.

During a new interview with Britain's Cosmopolitan magazine, the beauty admitted that she found being away from home to be harder than anticipated and that was highlighted when she got sick:

"I remember my first year of living away from home really well. I was excited about being independent, but struggled with the reality. One morning in my shared house, I woke up and couldn't see anything. It turned out that I had really bad conjunctivitis."

She went onto add that there's nothing like the loving care of a mother when you're unwell and that was what she really missed: "I'd underestimated how much support 'home' had given me – I couldn't cope. I felt like I just needed my mum."

In September, Faith confessed that she once lied about her age in order to secure a record deal: “When I was asked what my age was in that first meeting, I blurted out 23, when I was actually 27. I didn't plan on doing it beforehand and it wasn't a calculated thing.”
