Sir Paul McCartney shows support for the Paralympians

Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney has sent a message to the Paralympic athletes taking part in this year's games via his official Twitter page.

He took to the social networking site earlier this afternoon (August 29) and shared a photograph of himself against a Union Jack background. His picture was accompanied by the words:

"All of us wish our UK teams in the Olympics and Paralympics the very best of luck. We hope they enjoy this great competition and create great memories for themselves and us all and at the same time bring home a bagful of lovely medals. All the best, Paul MCCartney."

Sir Paul took part in the London 2012 Olympic Opening ceremony where he performed an anthemic version of 'Hey Jude' and the 2012 Paralympic Opening Ceremony is set to take place later this evening in London.
