Paul Weller awarded damages from Mail Online over children's photos

Paul Weller has won £10,000 ($16,793) in damages after the Mail Online published photos of his children.

A total of seven paparazzi style images were published in October 2012 in an online article named 'A family day out: Paul Weller takes wife Hannah and his twin sons out for a spot of shopping in the hot LA sun'.

Weller and his family complained about the article, saying that the images were "plainly voyeuristic".

They took legal action against publisher Associated Newspapers for 'misuse of private information' on behalf of then 16-year-old daughter Dylan and then 10-month-old twins John-Paul and Bowie.

Associated Newspapers suggested that the unpixelated images were innocent and were validated somewhat by Weller previously opening up his private family life in public to a 'significant degree'.

The Weller family's lawyer David Sherborne said that photos taken in the street were a "blatant impediment to the natural social progress of children".

The photographer in question took the photos without consent despite being asked to stop.
