Pete Doherty receives damages over phone hacking scandal

Pete Doherty has received compensation after the News of the World admitting hacking his phone.

Doherty is among a number of high-profile personalities to receive the payout as the Leveson inquiry into media ethics continues.

The former Libertines man's settlement was confirmed yesterday (February 8) at the High Court in London.

Joining Doherty in receiving damages was the likes of Steve Coogan and former footballer Paul Gascoigne.

Other celebrities to have already received financial settlements so far include PR supremo Max Clifford and actor Jude Law.
