Pete Doherty on Amy Winehouse: 'I think I was bang in love'

Pete Doherty has been opening up about his relationship with the late Amy Winehouse.

Having previously revealed last year that he and Winehouse were lovers, Doherty has now revealed that he developed strong feelings for the tragic singer very quickly.

The Babyshambles frontman told The Sun: “I think I was bang in love with Amy from when I first saw her. And then, bang, the queen is dead.”

Doherty also took the opportunity to praise the ‘Back To Black’ star’s talent as he insisted: “Amy’s music, that was glory, not tragedy.”

Amy Winehouse died in July 2011 from accidental alcohol poisoning.

Despite the ex-Libertines man’s admiration for Winehouse’s music it seems the feeling was not mutual as Doherty spoke of how Amy would mock him.

“I was a little bit in awe of the girl, you know? We'd jam and she'd take the piss. ‘Is that your best new riff?’ or ‘You're not really a singer, are you?’”

In another recent interview Pete Doherty told the NME that it would take the loss of a hand or his sex drive to make him kick his drug habits.
