Pharrell Williams returns to No.1 in the UK with 'Happy'

Singer and music mogul Pharrell Williams has taken the lead in the midweek singles chart update today (January 8) with his latest offering, 'Happy'.

The Official Charts Company reports that the song is currently outselling Pitbull and Ke$ha's collaboration (No.2), 'Timber', by 1,000 copies at this midway point. Elsewhere in the Top 5, Avicii's 'Hey Brother' is at No.3 and Jason Derulo is at No.4 with 'Trumpets'.

There are a couple of new entries on the Top 40 this afternoon from Lady Gaga at No.9 with her duet on 'Do What U Want' with Christina Aguilera, and 'Glee' star Idina Menzel with 'Let It Go', which has climbed 7 positions to No.37.

Pharrell, meanwhile, is due to record and release a new album this year and recently signed a deal with Columbia Records for the exciting forthcoming project.
