Pharrell Williams says working with Adam Lambert helped shape his sound

Pharrell Williams believes that he began "flirting" with his current sound when he worked with Adam Lambert a few years ago.

The US superstar teamed up with the vocal powerhouse to co-write and produce the 2012 song 'Trespassing', which featured Lambert's album of the same name.

Williams has since shot to global fame by collaborating on the likes of Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky' and he has seemingly taken that sound into his new solo album 'G I R L'.

However, when asked by HipHopDx if his current sound was helped along by his more recent collaborators, Williams said:

"No, that’s not true. I’ve actually been flirting with this sound since 2011. I made this song for Adam Lambert called 'Trespassing' in 2011 and put it out in 2012. I also did 'Inevitable' with the Scissor Sisters. There’s a bunch of records I did that predate that music, and I guess it just wasn’t the right time."

The 'G I R L' star meanwhile also co-wrote and produced Lambert's 2012 song 'Kickin' In'.
