Pharrell Williams sends support to Iranian fans arrested for filming 'Happy' tribute video

Pharrell Williams has backed fans who were arrested after making their own version of the singer's 'Happy' video.

Fans across the world have filmed themselves dancing along to the hit track and some of his followers recently got in on the action in Tehran, Iran.

However, the women in the clip were not wearing veils and the behaviour exhibited in the video led police to arrest a number of people.

Police chief Hossein Sajedinia stated that the video is "vulgar" and "hurt public chastity".

Williams himself later picked up on the story and posted a link to the news on his Facebook, adding:

"It is beyond sad that these kids were arrested for trying to spread happiness."
