Pharrell Williams would be up for lending his vocals to a One Direction song.

The US star previously met up with the band's Liam Payne in a recording studio and talk of a collaboration has been mooted.

Speaking to the The Sun at this weekend's Capital FM Summertime Ball, Williams said that he might be up for working with the band in more than just a producer and writer role.

When asked if he would sing with One Direction, Williams said:

"Why not? Of course…but I suppose they already have five voices – I don’t know if they need an extra one."

Talking meanwhile about Liam Payne, the 'Happy' hitmaker added:

“Liam stopped by my studio. I think he’s just genuinely curious about music. We have that in common. He’s always wanting to see what’s new and what’s next."
