Pharrell Williams to curate soundtrack for NBA 2K15 game

Pharrell Williams has been revealed as the new soundtrack curator for NBA computer game series.

The US star will preside over the music for NBA 2K15, which is due to be released on October 7 in North America.

The news was confirmed at a press conference on Monday (July 14), with Williams commenting: "I couldn't believe my name got tossed in the hat!"

The musician, who has taken over from Jay Z and LeBron James, added:

"There are girls that play the game and there's a lot of girls that are around it...so I thought it'd be such an interesting twist to have the girls weigh in on the song list, because they listen to it just as much. I tried to pick an alternative approach, because how do you follow up LeBron and Jay? I gotta take a different route. When we finished looking at the list, it felt right."

Details of the basketball game soundtrack are currently being kept under wraps, but the 'Happy' hitmaker confirmed that rockers System of a Down and Strafe will feature.
