Pharrell Williams announces Live Earth 2015

Pharrell Williams has announced the return of Live Earth.

The environmental gig series originally took place in 2007 at venues across the world to raise awareness of global warming.

Today (January 21) creative director Williams confirmed at the World Economic Forum in Davos alongside Al Gore that Live Earth will take place again on June 18.

It will hold gigs across the globe and it is hoped that the events will have a TV audience of two billion.

Live Earth will take place over 24 hours and it is being run in partnership with the United Nations.

The 2007 Live Earth saw the likes of Madonna, Genesis and Bon Jovi perform across the world.

Williams performed in Brazil for the first Live Earth and he commented today:

"You would have pundits and comedians who didn’t understand global warming and we were often ridiculed. We wanted to do something very different this time."
