Queen say Adam Lambert is a better fit as singer than Paul Rodgers

Queen believe Adam Lambert is more in tune with the spirit of the band than Paul Rodgers.

The band teamed up with the Bad Company and Free vocalist for a number of years in the 2000s before going their separate ways.

The Brits now have vocal powerhouse Adam Lambert in their ranks and speaking to the Toronto Sun, drummer Roger Taylor thinks he is more 'Queen' than Rodgers.

He said: "Paul has one of the greatest rock voices but it’s more blues- and soul-orientated I would have thought. I would say, with all due respect to Paul, that Adam is more suited to a lot of our material and whereas we had great tours with Paul, I think Adam is more naturally at home with us.

Brian May added: "Yeah, I think the styles match more closely in a sense. But we had a great time with Paul, no doubt about it, and it kind of stretched it to a new place and, I think, a thoroughly good experience. But Adam is really…Like us, he has many, many colours, so we can explore some of those strange excursions that Queen likes to.”

Queen and Adam Lambert meanwhile are due to embark on a North America tour from June 19 before heading to Asia and Australia.
