Queen on teaming up with Adam Lambert: "It was serendipitous"

Queen star Brian May said Adam Lambert popped out of nowhere in a "serendipitous" way.

The singer auditioned for American Idol in 2009 with the classic track 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and he is now fronting the group.

Speaking in an interview with Australia's Sunday Night, guitarist May said that the vocal powerhouse's arrival on the scene was an unexpected surprise.

He said: "It was sort of serendipitous - we didn't look for him, but suddenly he was there. We thought my God, what an incredible singer - what would that be like?"

Queen and Adam Lambert meanwhile will tour North America from June 19 before heading to Asia and Australia.
