Queen to release limited-edition vodka

Queen have revealed plans to release their own vodka.

The band will unleash the Killer Queen drink in tribute to their former singer Freddie Mercury, who used to "love" the spirit.

Bottles of the drink will go on sale in the UK from Wednesday (September 17) and it will be made in conjunction with Stoli spirits producer SPI.

Guitarist Brian May commented: "Freddie loved vodka and used to carry a dry ice cooler full of vodka with him on tour. Killer Queen Vodka is the perfect tribute."

The limited-edition alcohol will be 40% proof and it is "seven times distilled using an ancient original vodka filtration process of quartz sand and birch charcoal with a unique filtration process at the final stage".

May added that he recently visited the Stoli production plant in Latvia and he said it was like a "Willy Wonka chocolate factory for adults".
