Queen double earnings to net nearly £50m in 2014

Queen earned almost £50 million ($78 million) last year - partly thanks to a tour with Adam Lambert.

The rockers doubled their earnings from the previous year as they reasserted their influence on the music scene.

Figures filed with Companies House show that the band's Queen Productions earned £48.5 million ($75.5 million) in 2014.

This is in contrast to the £22 million ($34.2 million) they made in 2013.

£16.6 million ($25.8 million) of their 2014 total came from touring with singer Adam Lambert.

Despite no longer being a member of the band, former bassist John Deacon made £607,525 ($945,175) in directors' pay and royalties.

He also bagged £1,295,400 ($2,015,248) in dividends.
