Queen and Adam Lambert promise 'big' Isle of Wight show

Queen guitarist Brian May says the band agreed to perform at next year's Isle of Wight Festival after being guaranteed big production.

The group will headline the event in 2016 with singer Adam Lambert.

It will be the band's first UK festival show in their long history - and May told Gigwise that their reluctance has been down to control over their gig.

He said: "We never did them because we always did our own shows.

"It's partly because we liked to do our own production and we like control to do the thing as big as possible but Isle of Wight will give us big they will give everything we want, you know a headlining spot so it just seemed like a good idea and I feel very fortunate that we are alive and we can do that."

The band will also perform at the Sweden Rock Festival and Rock in Rio Lisboa in 2016.

Queen first played live with Lambert in his own right at the 2011 MTV EMAs.

In 2014 and 2015 they toured the globe together, hitting regions such as Europe, North America and Oceania.
