Queen and Adam Lambert on Isle of Wight Festival slot: 'We'll tear it up'

Legendary rock band Queen and singer Adam Lambert will perform live at the Isle of Wight Festival this coming weekend and guitarist Brian May has revealed that they can't wait for the challenge.

May told Digital Spy that they will embrace the opportunity with open arms and plan to "tear it up" at the summer music event:

"I think Queen at The Isle of Wight Festival is a date that was long overdue. How incredible to take on this challenge at this point in our lives. With an injection of new blood in the shape of the incredible Adam Lambert, Queen will be ready to tear it up on this legendary stage in 2016. Freddie would have loved it. Can’t wait."

It was also revealed this week that the Isle of Wight promoter, John Giddings, booked Queen and Adam Lambert after seeing them on television: "With Adam Lambert, he's one of the few people in the world that can hit those high notes that Freddie did, and he pays tribute to him."

Giddings added: "One of the reasons why I booked them, was because I saw them last New Year's eve on television and I thought how good they still are, I know what it's going to be like when I see 50,000 people singing along."
