Guitarist of Kerrang’s ‘best unsigned band’, Kingskin, goes solo with soul-infused feel-good beatsArtist: Short Sharp Scratch Track/EP: Shell Suit Release date: 15th September 2017 Jak Chantler, the former guitar player of alt-grunge outfit Kingskin, who won the accolade of Kerrang’s ‘Best Unsigned Band’, is looking to move away from his rock roots into a more soulful sound with his debut solo release, ‘Shell Suit’, under the new guise of Short Sharp Scratch. Listen to the new single ‘Shell Suit’ here ☜ Since the success of the band, Chantler has worked alongside Charlie Andrew of Alt J and Madness fame, before high profile guitar performances for the likes of James Corden, Rick Astley and Gordon Ramsey. The multi-talented mind of Jak Chantler is now re-launching himself as Short Sharp Scratch and has been writing a variety of pop and rock records since the band’s split before cementing this soul-inspired throwback sound. ‘Shell Suit’ exudes distinct funky-vibes, akin to the sounds of Chic and Chaka Khan, yet with a more contemporary edge that draws on the dreamy indie-pop of girl band, Haim. This is all amalgamated by producer George Shilling who conforms to Chantler’s goal of creating era-defying, positive tunes. As the ultimate combination of songwriter/producer, Jak is perceptively aware of the current trends in this contemporary age of music where there is so much choice. The new project seemingly has no limits as he aims to meet the demands of the savvy modern day listener. Links: For more information, please contact: Watch the video for ‘Shell Suit’ below:
