International pop superstar Rihanna has scored her 9^th U.S number 1 single with ‘Only Girl In The World’.

After an impressive 11 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the track, which also shot to number 1 on the UK chart, has crept its way into the first position knocking Far*East Movement’s ‘Like A G6’ off the top spot.

Just two weeks ago, the ‘Te Amo’ singer’s second track from her new album, ‘What’s My Name’, was at number 1 and this is the first time an artist’s debut single has made it to the top spot after the second single.

Rihanna reveals that she and current collaborator Drake had a short-lived romance.

The pair, who have just released a track together called ‘What’s My Name’, had a strong attraction as Rihanna explained in an interview with The Angie Martinez Show:

“I definitely was attracted to Drake, but I think it is what it is - like it was what it was… We didn't want to take it any further. It was at a really fragile time in my life, so I just didn't want to get too serious with anything or anyone at that time.”

She also said of the relationship:

“We weren't really sure what it was.”

Despite the pair reverting back to a solid friendship, their music video for ‘What’s My Name’, which shot to the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, shows they have fantastic chemistry together.

Rihanna has knocked Cheryl Cole off the top of the UK singles chart tonight.

The ‘Umbrella’ star, who was beaten to number one by Cole last week, triumphed in mid-week sales with ‘Only Girl (In the World)’.

Both Rihanna’s ‘Only Girl’ and Cole’s ‘Promise This’ are the biggest selling first week singles of the year – discounting the Helping Haiti charity version of REM’s ‘Everybody Hurts’.

Alexis Jordan entered the chart at number three and Katy Perry went up two places to number four.
