Rihanna makes US chart history

Rihanna has made chart history in the US for scoring her 10th No.1 single in under five years.

The title of solo artist with the shortest span between first and 10th No.1s had previously been held by Mariah Carey, who did it in five years and four months. It only took Rihanna four years, eleven months and two weeks, from the release of ‘SOS’ in 2006 to her current smash hit remix of ‘S&M’ with Britney Spears.

The Beatles remain the act with the fastest accumulation of 10 No.1s ever in the US, which they achieved in one year and eight months. The Supremes come in at second place with two years and eight months, while Rihanna is third overall.
