The ‘Umbrella’ hit-maker has regularly appeared in the tabloid press over her hard-partying lifestyle and has posted several pictures on Twitter herself which have sparked fears she may be about to 'burn out.'

Dad Ronald, who flew out from his home in Barbados to the US to speak to the 24-year-old, revealed he was initially concerned over a recent image of her hooked up to a drip in a New York hospital:

“When I saw the ­pictures on Twitter I was worried like everyone else. But the truth is she was suffering from flu and exhaustion. She’d also lost a pound or two in weight and just wasn’t feeling well.

“Even so, I sat her down and said she needed to take things easy. I told her it was important to chill out a bit, look after herself and not take too much on for a while.”

The Bajan singer is now expected to take a holiday back in her homeland, something which Ronald admits can’t come soon enough:

“That is just what she needs. Robyn (Her real name) is a smart, tough girl and is fine now. She has a good team around her and friends and family who will make sure she is OK.”
